The main activity involves analytical services for various customers like fish processing plants, Local Food Control Authorities in eastern Iceland, Fjarðarál and Landsvirkjun.The service includes both microbiological and chemical measurements.

The main chemical measurements include analysis of proteins, water, fat, salt, ash and ammonia in fish and fish meal; unsaturated fatty acids and water in fish oil; BOD, conductivity, impurity, turbitity, oil and pH in effluent water from the aluminium factory in Reyðarfjörður and more. The main microbiological measurements include Salmonella, Enterobacteriaceae, total viable counts, total and faecal coliforms, Escherichia coliListeriaBacillus cereus and Staphylococcus aureus.
