Matís is one of 103 Icelandic companies and institutions that signed a declaration on climate issues in a collaborative venture of the City of Reykjavík and Festa, The Icelandic Center for Corporate Social Responsibility. The declaration will be submitted to The United Nations 21st Climate Change Conference in Paris.

The declaration is designed as an incentive for operators to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and thus demonstrate initiative and responsibility towards the environment and society. Participants will be offered education on climate, both how to approach the subject in a practical way and experiences of other companies that have reduced greenhouse gas emissions in their operations.

Participants to the declaration commit to setting goals before end of June 2016 to:

  • Reduce the emission of greenhouse gases
  • Decrease waste production, including through reduced use of unsustainable raw materials and packaging, recycling and reuse
  • Measure progress and regularly provide information on the above goals
